The Zoo!
Catching up
It has been quiet around this blog because it has been really busy at home. We were lucky to have our darlin' sweet friend Mrs. Chatwin stay with us for a few days on her visit stateside. Maggie LOVES her and loves her most favorite shirt that she gave her. Yes, it is Rolling Stones and Maggie always asks for her shirt with the mouth on it that her friend gave her. So fun to spend some time with Lindsay! Can't wait to see her next spring in Europe. What's that? We are going to Europe in the spring?! I will post more info on our trip as soon as we get more details...

5 Months Old!
Our beautiful little girl is 5 months old! Time for some food. We started a few bites of rice cereal at dinner after she was protesting at every meal and reaching towards my plate. She is growing up so fast... sleeping through the night (finally), rolling over and over and over, laughing, giggling, protesting, watching everything her sister does, blowing raspberries, and just today, starting to say "ba,ba,ba,ba". She is so cute!

Grandma's birthday card
Grandma's birthday is coming up so I gave Maggie a card to draw on and send to Grandma. I hear Maggie talking and drawing and then say... "there! Now Grandma has two cards!". She ripped it down the middle and now grandma will be the lucky recipient of 2 birthday cards!!
She did it!
At nearly 5 months old our little baby girl K slept through the night! She had been waking up every 2-3 hours lately. That means 5 months of no sleep for us. We did not know how lucky we were that Maggie slept through the night at 9 weeks. I am so happy to report that she slept from 7 pm to 5 am last night! I feel like a new person getting a large block of sleep.
The secret? Three nights of ferberizing... Night one she fell asleep within 30 min, night two she fell asleep in 23 min, and last night she barely made a peep. Wonderful!

Escape artist
I looked away for 2 min and this is what I found... Baby k rolled, scooted, shifted her way 180 degrees and off the playmat! She is on the move! Another exciting note, she only woke up once last night at 1 am! I think it was the threat of ferberization that got her to snooze longer than 3 hours at a time!

Palm Springs
The best part of John's job is the wonderful people that we meet along the way. The bad part is that we all have to move sooner or later! This past weekend we caught up with the Silvas and the Munters in Palm Springs. The drive was 7 hours across a very hot desert (113!) but worth every minute. We had so much fun meeting all of the babies and relaxing by the pool.

I'm thinking of an animal...
This story is for Gianna. I'm pretty sure she will find the humor! We are driving home from a great weekend in Palm Springs. Driving across the desert, 113 degrees, eating ice cream, and playing the animal game. Maggie says that she is thinking of an animal that starts with the letter B and has a big roar (she then proceeds to growl really loud). John guesses Bear! She laughs and says... No, stop joking! I then guess baboon. She laughs and says... No! We give up and she yells, 'It's a dinosaur!!'.

For the Grandparents...
This is Maggie's school report from Ms. Lisa her teacher. I know my grandpa, Win, would have been really proud!
"Maggie has taken her time coming into the classroom. She is quiet and prefers to observe others rather than playing with the toys. She loves playing with the strollers collecting random items around the classroom including rocks and blocks. She is assertive in her wants, but very polite, "no thank you" she says when I give her a choice. She is a cutie. Thanks for sharing her with me this year."

'member that?
Maggie relives moments in her life constantly. We will be driving in the car and she comes up with a totally random moment from months ago and relives every second. At the end of the story she always says... 'member that??? John and I die laughing. Tonights "'member that" moment was from April. I was nursing the baby in her room. Maggie was taking a bath. She gets out and runs into the baby's room, still wet. Maggie whispers: "Mom, 'member when I fell at the pool and got a booboo? I couldn't swim and cried?" Me: "Yes, I remember that." Maggie yelling in a very serious tone: "All I am sayin' is DON'T RUN!!! See ya!". She then turned and ran out of the room.

Splash Pad, Pizza, Gelato, and Guns?
We are quickly adjusting to our new life in the desert. We have figured out that life here revolves around water and ice cream. Our weekend was spent at the splash pad at the new club that we joined and trying out the ice cream places around town. We went for gelato this evening and freaked out when a man walked in with a gun! John quickly reminded me that you can carry a gun here in Az! Why on earth would you need a gun in a gelato store?
